How to Get the Most Out of Your RV This Summer

You and your family might be ready to enjoy the summer, but is your RV ready for the long journey ahead? To have a smooth sailing summer drive to your destination, make sure your RV is equipped with all the essentials and its ready for the road. Before you can officially embark on your trip, you have to make a rundown of the things you can do for your RV.

Checking Your Rv’s Maintenance

Before you begin your camping trip, make sure that your RV is maintained correctly. Here are some of the things you’d want to check before your adventure:

  • Batteries – replace the batteries of your RV as needed. Make sure your batteries are functioning, and always have a spare just in case.
  • Detectors – make sure your smoke, carbon monoxide, and gas leak detectors are working. You’d rely on your sensors to avoid potential problems.
  • Fire extinguishers – your RV’s should always have fire extinguishers in case something happens. Not only that but make sure that it’s still working.
  • Power train and generator – make sure all your RV’s machinery are working, such as the brake, steering wheel, and engine.
  • Tires – check whether the tires are flat and also have a spare just in case.
  • Water system and plumbing – make sure you have a proper supply of water, and that your pipe has no leaks.

Maximizing RV Storage

RV’s don’t have a lot of storage space, and you need to get creative to maximize the space you have. Every area in your RV is a storage opportunity, whether it’s under your bed and in the kitchen. If your RV lacks storage space, consider re-organizing the layout of your RV, or clearing a small area dedicated for your items. If you want to put an organizing box, make sure to label them properly, so you know which goes where.

If you want to have more closet space, consider hanging organizers on your doors. Hanging organizers are multi-purpose, and you can use them for storing your clothes, shoes, and socks. If you want to have more space in your kitchen area, consider using collapsible kitchen items to free up your space. Unlike glass and bowls, collapsible kitchenware isn’t fragile, and they little space as possible.

Utilizing Your Campsite

Once you’ve arrived at your campsite, you want to make a quick drive-by of the surrounding area. On foot, check for amenities and utilities at your location, as well as any obstacles your RV might encounter. After getting your bearing under control, power up your RV but make sure to pay attention to the right voltage because you don’t want to short circuit your RV. After getting some power on your RV, you can connect to your campsite’s water supply.

The next thing you’d want to do is turn on your gas supply, and check whether it’s functioning. After you’ve connected your RV to electric and water supplies, it’s time that you set up your exterior camp. Make sure you position your RV near shade and make sure your awning and sunshades are working correctly.

Leaving Your Campsite

After a long adventure, you’d want to make sure you bring home everything you brought with you. The first thing you do when you’re about to leave, make a checklist of your valuables and return them to their proper storage. Make sure you don’t leave anything behind, especially if you’ve set camp outside your RV.

The next crucial thing you need to do is it to disconnect your water and electricity supplies. Make sure you return the hose in your RV and drain all your dirty fluids before you begin your journey home. If you have any TV antenna or a satellite dish, make sure it’s stowed adequately in its space.

As a final measure, make a quick rundown of your RV’s lights and brakes, and make sure they’re working correctly, and you have enough fluids to supply you on your way home.

On your next summer vacation, consider your RV as your next home. You can make your RV livable and comfortable, as long as you follow these tips. You can get more information from this website on how to make your RV experience a memorable and enjoyable one.
